As Chairman of the Korean War 60th Anniversary Project Committee ("KW60"), I would like to have your endorsement for our Little Angels 16-nation tour in 2010.

This year will be the 60th anniversary of the Korean War that broke out when the North Korea invaded South Korea on June 25, 1950. The North Korean communist troops, supported by both the Stalinist regime of the Soviet Union and Communist Red China, made an undeclared military attack on the Republic of South Korea to envelop the entire Korean Peninsula in communism.

Both the United States and 15 other U.N. nations immediately sent troops to Korea to help defend the democracy and freedom of the people of South Korea under the banner of the United Nations.
Since 1962, the Little Angels Children's Folk Ballet of Korea, which is made up of children ages 8-14, has been touring the world, performing the folk art dances and songs of Korea. Their beauty, innocence, and professionalism have been experienced and acknowledged by millions. Now, they will perform for the Korean War veterans and their families, to express the Korean people's unforgettable thanks and gratitude for their sacrifice made by those who defended their peace and freedom.

Beginning June 7, 2010, in Washington, D.C., the Little Angels will start their tour at the National Soldiers' Home, Walter Reed Military Hospital, Bethesda Navy Hospital, the Kennedy Center, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Korean War Memorial. They will then move on to the MacArthur Memorial in Norfolk (VA), to New York City, Ottawa (Canada), Atlanta, Fort Benning (GA) and Bogota (Colombia), thereby completing the tour of North and South America.

We will continue to show our gratitude to the 16 nations and to the world for the noble cause for which these veterans, their families, and countries sacrificed. By doing this, we want to remind the world of the negative impact war has on mankind.

At this time, I would like to ask you to write an endorsement for our KW60 project's 16-nation tour, which will be a highlight for our project. The year 2010 will be one of our last chances to show our gratitude to the surviving Korean War veterans and to their families.

Your kind support in this matter is much appreciated.

Respectfully yours,

Honorable J. Dennis Hastert
Chairman, KW60 Project Committee
Former Speaker, the U.S. House of Representatives
