Dr. Bo Hi Pak

The Korean War 60th Anniversary Memorial Project 25 Nungdong, KwangJin-Gu Seoul, Korea

My Dear Dr. Pak,

I am very honored to be asked to join you and my close friend, the Reverend Walter E. Fauntroy to be part of the host committee to welcome the Little Angels Children's Folk Ballet of Korea on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Korean War, and to honor and recognize the great sacrifices of those who so bravely fought during the Korean War.

In my long life, I have seen the hand of our Lord at work many times but I would say that the Korean War brought out a side of humanity very rarely seen. Courageous men and women from 16 nations representing black and white, Jew and gentile, Americans, Koreans and United Nations forces --who suffered terrible hardships and conditions -- standing together for a just and righteous cause. After a long battle, the forces of freedom triumphed. God has a plan for Korea by using this conflict to teach humankind an important lesson about sacrifice and purpose to higher cause.

In what my friend Walter Fauntroy calls the "Obama era of world history," it is indeed time for us to honor all of those on both sides of the conflict who lost their lives and their futures because we have not yet learned why Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. told us ''either we learn to live together as brothers and sisters on this planet or we will perish together as fools." Your initiative with the Little Angels Children's Folk Ballet, I believe can set the climate for the whole world to champion peace not only between North and South Korea, but across the entire globe as well in what I hope history will define as the "Obama era of world history." Count on me to be your partner in this noble quest.

Let us stand together to honor the courageous men and women who served in the Korean War on the 60th anniversary in June 2010 and ask God's blessings on the Little Angels Children's Folk Ballet of Korea as they embark on their 16-nation tour to thank and comfort our veterans.
